Greetings,
As you know, City Hall and Schools are scheduled to reopen to all employees on Feb 1, 2021.
Things to Know:
Department Supervisors have been designated as the first line of contact for safety questions and for ordering PPE needs. Always speak to your supervisor first.
Elevators – The Board recommends no more than 2 people ride an elevator at a time. The elevators in City Hall by the mailboxes have been reprogrammed to stop at Board floors and employees are strongly encouraged to use them to avoid congestion and overcrowding in the morning.
Staggered Hours / Flex Time for City Hall only– Please talk to your supervisor about staggering you work hours (See Flex Time in the News section below).
There will be a Nurse located in room 702 of City Hall. She will have extra masks and sanitizers. Employees are encouraged to bring everything they need to feel safe however. CDC recommends the wearing of 2 (or more) masks for extra protection.
Plexiglass shields have been installed in targeted areas. If you need a plexiglass shield, speak to your supervisor about ordering one. School clerks should only speak to parents from behind a shield. If your school does not have a shield or needs additional ones, speak to your supervisor and/ or principal.
Air Filters are in the process of being installed in areas with poor ventilation. There are regulations about where filters may be installed but speak to your supervisor to inquire if your space meets the qualifications.
Try to leave a window cracked to increase fresh air flow.
The cafeteria in City Hall is back open with new procedures for customer service.
The cleaning staff will not disinfect your own personal area. Please remember to disinfect your area at various times during the day and wash your hands frequently.
Do not use other employee’s computers or phones. Do not let anyone use yours. Wipe down the copy machine both before and after you use it.
Group meetings should still remain virtual.
Be proactive!!! Take the steps you need before an issue arises!! This can’t be stressed enough. Make sure you have everything you need to feel secure in your environment.
Things to remember:
How COVID-19 Spreads: Although the first human cases of COVID-19 likely resulted from exposure to infected animals, infected people can spread SARS-CoV-2 to other people. The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person, including:
Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has SARS-CoV-2 on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the primary way the virus spreads.
People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic (i.e., experiencing fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath). Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this type of asymptomatic transmission with this new coronavirus, but this is also not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
